After all the paranormal erotica and sexy vampire stuff that has glutted the market, this was a refreshing, old-fashioned vampire hunter tale, and I welcomed it. Well-written, with a coherent mythology, a clearly delineated villain, and the backdrop setting of Victorian London to make the heroine’s life a little more difficult.
The characters are not flat, either. Max and Sebastian clearly have secrets that I need to read further to learn of.
Hey, I just flat-out enjoyed a good vampire tale (and I really enjoyed the references to Polidori, knowing that story as I do and having read The Vampyre). 4 stars and a highly recommended read.
